SIR, On a wet and windy night in early November, I took part in Sleep Out 2014 in aid of the Welsh charity Llamau. With a resting place found, and my bed of cardboard arranged, I endeavoured to shut my eyes at around midnight. Every little sound would alert me, so any sleep was incredibly difficult. I stirred around 5am, physically and mentally exhausted. But above all, I felt humbled. My next night was in the love, warmth and safety of my home. Llamau works with around 5,000 young people each year who have become distant from their families and friends and often seek a resting place with someone they don't know. These young people are truly vulnerable. Sleep Out does not seek to replicate the fear and hopelessness so often felt by these young people – rather it seeks to raise awareness of the issue. Llamau achieves remarkable results with some of the most vulnerable young people in our society. With help from people all over Monmouth and beyond, I have raised over £1,000. You can still support me, either by popping into No. 18, next to the Savoy – or by donating online at http://www.justgiving.com/DGMB-Eighteen">www.justgiving.com/DGMB-Eighteen For more information about Llamau, visit http://www.llamau.org.uk">www.llamau.org.uk David Blair (Monmouth)
