MONEY raised by Monmouthshire Show was donated recently to a children’s cancer charity.

Show officials made a cheque presentation on 9th October to the father of five-year-old Mia Chambers, who is suffering from a rare kidney cancer.

The show president and chairman each year choose a charity of their choice to support.  David Probert, 2017 chairman and pictured on the left of the photo, and Mr Harold Johns, 2017 president and seen on the right, chose the charity Solving Kids’ Cancer.

The small national charity helps the families of children with cancer get physical and financial support. The charity is working alongside the Ebbw Vale-based Chambers family, who are battling to raise money to treat a rare form of cancer suffered by daughter Mia.

Joshua Chambers, Mia’s father, is in the middle of the photo accepting the cheque from David and Harold.

Mia is due to travel to America to have pioneering treatment for her kidney cancer.  Family friends have made colourful florist ribbons made into rosettes that have been sold and placed on the front of cars which can be seen around the county, so far sales of these ribbons have raised £55,000 for the family for Mia’s cause.

Mr Chambers thanked the show society for their generosity and support.
