With the help of a match-funded grant from Monmouth Town Council, last September, when the country was still subject to Covid restrictions, Monmouth Chamber of Commerce produced a ‘Shop Monmouth’ leaflet.

The publication listed the retail businesses open at the time of going to print and 30,000 copies were distributed throughout Monmouthshire, Herefordshire, and Gloucestershire.

Highlighted was a competition to win £100 in Monmouth Shopping vouchers; entrants simply provided evidence of spending £5 or more in a Monmouth business to be entered into a prize draw.

Nearly 700 entries were received, and the winner was drawn, at random, by one of the town’s shop managers.

The winner, Mrs Sue Flower, is from Yorkshire and had been holidaying in Llandogo.

The Chamber Chair, Sherren McCabe-Finlayson, was able to present her with the prize when Mrs Flower and her husband recently returned for another short break, we hope she enjoyed spending them in our Town businesses.

The Chamber of Commerce is committed to supporting Monmouth and its businesses – retail, professional and trade – and will endeavour to organise ongoing competitions that promote our town. When you buy from a local business you are supporting your local economy.

Businesses were quick to adapt during the pandemic, some offering home delivery or click and collect. If you have difficulty getting into the high street, check whether your favourite supplier offers this service.

Please continue to Shop Monmouth.

Thanks as ever, grateful for your support.
