HUNDREDS of music lovers descended on Shirenewton on the weekend for the 2017 Shirefest.

The annual charity music festival hosted 14 bands on two stages at the Huntsman Hotel with all proceeds form the day going towards Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital.

Phil Moles from the Huntsman said it was the festival’s biggest year yet with the crowd listening from start to finish.

He said: “It all went really really well, it has improved every year and this year it improved again. We had a great crowd, great music, and everyone really enjoyed it.

“Attendance was great, we had about 300 people and we are still calculating the donations but we think we have netted at least £1,500 for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital.

“It was the earliest we have had people come, they were here at 2pm when we started and stayed right on through the night.”
