SIR,

I would like through your column of letters to express my utter amazement at the lack of compassion I received from an employee of Ace Cabs.

On late Thursday evening my friend who uses them regularly thought I may be able to share her taxi to take me just under a mile away; it would have been a five minute round trip for the young driver on an extremely bitterly cold and frosty evening for a lady on her own.

His heartless attitude which was totally uncalled for made me feel totally worthless. He may have had a bad day and wanted to take it out on someone and I just happened to be that someone, but if anything had happened to me, I could have slipped on the ice and no one would have found me until it was too late, he would have felt even worse.

Why do people find it difficult to help each other? It really isn't that difficult.
