PLANS to create a sensory garden at Rockfield Community Centre have been kickstarted with a grant from Monmouthshire Housing Association.

The idea was the brainchild of Councillor Alice Legg, who decided that action was needed because one side of the centre had become “a bit of a mess”.

The new team of trustees who have just taken over the running of the community facility liked the sensory garden idea and allowed an area between the building and the petanque enclosure to be set aside for the purpose.

“Everyone has been very supportive,” said Cllr Legg. “Hannah Lineham, one of the trustees, has put in a lot of time and effort to realise the project.”

With the grant in place, the trustees are keen to get as many members of the public involved as possible.

Local primary schools and groups including the Allotment Association have already been invited to take part.
