A coastguard helicopter was seen to be hovering over the village of Skenfrith tonight (Sunday 17) in connection with a search for a missing elderly resident.

Margaret Bryce, 76, who lives just outside the village boundary, was reported as missing at around 9.30am today and police officers are concerned for her welfare.

She is described as around 5’ 3” tall with grey hair and was thought to be wearing a brightly coloured pullover top.

The helicopter was seen to approach the village at around 6.30pm and hover for around ten minutes before flying away.

Police cars have been seen in the village this evening.

A spokesman for Gwent Police is asking anyone who may have seen her to call 101 or DM us with any information on her whereabouts, quoting log reference 2300315768.

“Margaret is also urged to get in touch with us to confirm that she is safe and well.”
