Sea defence work commences in Magor

WORK to improve sea defences at Portland Grounds near Magor and Undy means that a 3.6 kilometre section of the Wales Coast Path is subject to a temporary diversion.

A closure has been in place since Wednesday 1st April and the work is scheduled for completion on Thursday 1st October 2015.

Two kilometres of coastal embankment will be raised by an average of approximately 450mm and the project will allow defences at Portland Grounds to withstand a one in a thousand year event.

An inland diversion has been created and signage will be in place to guide walkers.
