The students of Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls are encouraged to take part in various sports and activities, and have all played sports including lacrosse, hockey, netball, athletics and rowing at national level.
Emily Allison, Kathryn Lewis and Jo Hancock (all Year 12), Hollie Poyner and Freddie Mädler (both Year 13) rowed for Wales at the Home International Regatta in 2011.
Poppy Thompson, Emanuella Kefalas and Holly Hall (all Year 9) have been selected for the Welsh lacrosse U17 development squad and play for the U19 squad.
Hannah Woodward (Year 11) has been selected to play lacrosse for England's U16 team.
Lizzie Penfold (Year 12) represents Wales in the U19 netball squad.
Lizzie Grant (Year 12) is in the U18 Wales water polo team.
Amelia Andrew (Year 10) has been selected for the U16 England hockey squad, and is the youngest member of this team.
Sisters Hannah, Rachel and Nina Tilley all represent GB in sailing: Hannah (Year 12) is in the Welsh National Laser squad and Laser Radial British Youth Squad (U19); Rachel (Year 10) is in the Welsh National Laser Squad and British Junior Squad; and Nina (Year 6) sails in the Topper 4.2.
Gabrielle Jones (Year 11) is a keen polocrosse competitor and represents GB in her sport.
Menna Rose (Year 10) excels in cross country, and ran for Wales in a recent cross country international held in Antrim, Ireland.
Finally, Stephanie du Toit (Year 4) was the youngest girl to represent Wales in the World Youth Chess Championships in Greece last year. This month, Stephanie won the U9 and U10 Welsh chess tournaments.
