The buildings might be closed temporarily due to the lockdown, but staff at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools are continuing to support the NHS this week in their battle to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Dr Toby Murcott and Mr Sean McCluskey have been using Monmouth School for Girls’ 3D printer to make more than 450 pieces of protective equipment for NHS staff.

In addition to loaning five pairs of safety glasses, normally worn in design technology and science classes, to Castle Gate Medical Practice and more than 150 pairs of safety glasses to hospitals in the area, staff have been busy.

Dr Murcott and Mr McCluskey have now made 146 visors and 80 mask holders for staff at Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny; 120 visors and 10 mask holders for Hereford County Hospital; more than 50 visors for surgeries and district nurses in the Forest of Dean; 10 visors for Ross-on-Wye Community Hospital and 50 visors for University Hospital Llandough in Cardiff.
