Musicians at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools dazzled with a wonderful charity concert at The Blake Theatre last week.
Junior and senior groups shone in an inspirational evening last Wednesday evening in support of Cancer Research Wales and BBC Children in Need.
The hugely enjoyable programme, organised by Mr David Lawson, Director of Music at Monmouth School for Boys, comprised:
Big Time Band, directed by Ian Russell and Julie Gibbons: James Bond Theme (Barry and Norman); Wallace and Gromit (Nott); Parade of The Wooden Soldiers (MacDonald arr. Osterling).
Bach Orchestra, directed by Sara Greenwood: La Réjouissance (Handel); Elephant Dance (Hewitt-Jones); Black Jack (Wedgwood).
Haberdashers’ Monmouth Senior Strings, directed by Ruth Friend: String Ensemble No.3 (Jason, premier performance); Minuet (Ireland); Concerto No. 13 in D (Avison).
Jazz Orchestra, directed by Alun Hathaway: Valero (Swearingen); Splanky (Hefti arr. Phillippe); Coconut Champagne (DeBlasio arr. Lopez); Birdland (Zawinul arr. Higgins).
