Roman brooches not seen for around 1,700 years have been found in the grounds of Monmouth School – by an ex-boarder.

Archaeologist Johnny Crawford, who spent two years at the school as an A-level student, found the bronze pieces during a dig last Tuesday (17th May).
He is working alongside builders preparing to move an electrical substation to make way for a new block at the school.
