SPEECH days were held for the prep school and, for the first time, a combined senior school on Saturday June 28, bringing together students, staff and families together for these end-of-term events and honouring achievements across the academic year.

The day began with a commemoration service at St Mary’s Priory Church, led by Revd Mother Alycia Timmis and included readings by Head of Senior School Rachel Rees, Executive Head Simon Dorman and Chapel Prefect Breanna Vaughan.

The Senior School Choir delivered a rendition of Nunc Dimittis and sang traditional hymns such as Guide me, O Thou Great Redeemer.

On the St Catherine’s Campus, guests were welcomed to the marquee by the sound of a student string quartet.

There were performances from a brass ensemble, violin soloist and others highlighing the school's rich musical life and the hard work of the music department throughout the year.

Head of Senior School, Rachel Rees delivered her final Speech Day speech, looking back on what she described as a year of “growth, reflection and change.”

Ms Rees’ speech highlighted milestones across school life, academic, pastoral, co-curricular and community with student montages capturing the years spirit.

The day progressed with speeches from Simon Dorman, Professor Dame Jenny Harries, and Arabella and Toby who are head of year.

Alderman Sir William Russell, Master of the Haberdashers’ Company commended Monmouth for being the first school to introduce the Aspire Programme, a visionary initiative now being rolled out across all Haberdashers’ schools.

The day continued by announcing the student who had been awarded the HMS cup and Imbert Terry had the house with the most merits across the year.

The day concluded with drinks and canapés as families, students and staff marked the end of the year.

Haberdashers’ Monmouth School prep school also hosted their speech day for families, governors, staff and friends.

The day began with a warm welcome from Chair of Governors, Mr Tim Haynes who spoke of the unity, ambition and spirit which define the school.

Mr Neil Shaw, Head of Monmouth Prep school followed with a speech, then Alderman Sir William Russell, Master of the Haberdashers’ Company spoke about the core values which connect the pupils to a broader educational legacy.

There was the announcement of the head girl and head boy prize awards and speeches from head students and a ceremony of the annual prize- giving recognising pupils in Year 3 to 6 for dedication, achievement and character across a variety of disciplines.

The awards included: Prize for Perseverance, Accomplishment Prize, Good Egg prize, prize for art, music prize, prize for science, girls’ sport prize and boys’ sport prize.

The day ended as Year 6 leavers and their families gathered at the canapès on the Prep School terraces.
