SIR,

As a resident of St Briavels, and having the interests of the Savoy Theatre in Monmouth at heart, I travelled to Monmouth as a helper for the coffee morning last Saturday.

I have to say that I was very disappointed to see the number of people who actually took the time to support the event.

The Savoy is unique, it is the located on the oldest theatre site in Wales, the interior is evocative of the 1920s era, but like all such theatres depends on the support of the local population in order to survive.

If last Saturday is representative of the support that the people of Monmouth are prepared to give, then we shall not have this unique facility for much longer.
