Lewis Jex, a pupil at Monmouth Boys School, has organised a collection of plastic milk carton tops, at the school and from family and friends for a good cause

Revd Catherine Haynes of St Mary’s Priory Church and St Thomas’s Overmonnow, highlighted the need to support areas in Wales who suffered through lack of funds and this inspired Lewis to begin collecting the tops.

Originally this went towards funding events in a school in New Tredegar, a former mining town in the Rhymney Valley.

However, the school is now funded so the tops now go towards raising money for dogs for the blind.

Catherine would like to thank Lewis and the school houses and dining areas at the boys school for the large amounts of carton tops collected.

If anyone has any plastic milk carton tops they would like to give to Lewis, they can be dropped off at St Thomas’s Church at the bottom end of town.
