THE annual Santa Fun Run held earlier this month has raised £2,332 for the charity Home-start.
A cheque was presented to the charity last Thursday (17th December) at Bridges Community Centre (pictured).
More than 340 Santa runners took to Monnow Street on Sunday 6th December to take part in the 2.1km fun run.
Stuart Kramer, race director for the fun run, said: “We’d like to thank Barclays Bank for matching the total amount raised. This has been the most we’ve ever raised from the fun run.
“This year we had a lot more walkers and families. Next year Monmouth Rugby Club has said 160 members will also be taking part so we’ll have even more participants next year.”
The Spirit of Monmouth and Home-start charity would like to thank the many businesses in the area who supported the run.
Home-start is an independent registered charity that supports struggling families with at least one child under five living in Monmouthshire.
The next event organised by the Spirit of Monmouth will be the Kymin Dash and will take place on Sunday 17th April raising funds for St Michael’s Hospice, Hereford.
