STAFF at Chepstow Racecourse are taking time off from preparations for Coral Welsh National day and getting into the season of goodwill early.
The racecourse's new General Manager Richard Holland and six of his team are becoming 'Seven Santas' and taking part in a public run around the track to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Everyone can participate in the event on Sunday 7th December, which is just one of a whole host of activities - in addition to horse racing - that take place at the racecourse all year round.
A circuit of Chepstow Racecourse - which hosts the Coral Welsh National on Saturday 27 December - is a little under two miles.
No one needs to be super fit. People can run or walk at their own pace. All ages and abilities are welcome. Although the route uses a track alongside the running rail - and not the grass that the horses race on - suitable shoes or boots should be worn.
Richard Holland said: "Most people think of Chepstow Racecourse as just that - a racecourse. But all kinds of other events happen here during the year, and we're absolutely delighted that this charity run for such a good cause as the Cystic Fibrosis Trust is happening here just before Christmas.
"The Santa Run is not only raising funds for a fantastic charity, it is an opportunity for the Chepstow team to get together and have some fun. As I am finding out, working at a racecourse is a unique experience."
The cost of taking part in the Santa Run is £10 for adults or £7 for children, students and senior citizens. In return, everyone gets their very own Santa suit. A condition of entry is that all participants pledge to raise at least £30.
