More than 250 people braved the cold and fog last Sunday (5th December) to compete in this year's Santa Fun Run.
All festively dressed, the participants walked, jogged or ran the 1.5miles in order to raise money for charity.
This year's fancy dress costumes ranged from the usual collection of santas to elves, fairies and even shepherds.
Glen Hill won the men's race, completing the course in approximately nine minutes.
The pace at the front of this year's run added a new competitive aspect to the event, with a number of runners contending with last year's winner Monmouth MP David Davies, who finished in a very credible third place.
Angela Jones won the women's race, followed by her daughter Ellie, who was the first girl home.
The Jones family managed to scoop a hat-trick of prizes, taking the title of fastest family.
Arun Jones was just beaten in the boy's race by 12-year old Harry Powell.
The first school team to cross the finish line was once again the Rampaging Reindeers from The Grange, who successfully defended their 2009 title.
The team were rewarded with a trophy for the school trophy cabinet, together with a voucher for a giant celebration cake from Nine Yards patisserie and restaurant in Monmouth.
It is anticipated that a total of £2,000 was raised and this will be split equally between Ty Hafan children's hospice and ABF The Soldiers Charity.
Race director Laurence Moore said: "Despite challenging conditions, we were delighted with the turnout and the festive fancy dress.
"Most importantly of all, we have raised lots of money for two very valuable causes."
Spirit of Monmouth Running Club would like to thank the sponsors of the Monmouth Santa Fun Run, without whom the event would not have been possible.
