Santa Claus made some appearances this month around the town of Monmouth in aid of charity.

The Monmouth Rotary Club were to thank for this festive appearance, and volunteers on Monnow Street were giving their time to raise money for local charities that are supported by the club.

The sleigh was adorned in colourful fairy light and had a speaker blaring Christmas songs that carried the festive spirit around the busy streets.

A volunteer for the club said: “we raise money for all sorts of causes – sometimes we do events once or twice a year for causes such as for victims of the Russia and Ukraine war.”

“The people of Monmouth are very generous – and the children seem to have enjoyed it!”

The club have organised events in Monmouth previously this month, notably with the lantern parade on the 1st of December.

Santa will be making more appearances for the rest of this month, with Santa making a return to Monnow Street on the 23rd December, as well as an appearance at Rockfield Community Centre Thursday.
