MONMOUTH Rowing Club racers proved old masters as they pulled themselves to the title of Britains top veteran club at Nottinghams National Water Sports Centre.

Competing against 80 other clubs from around the UK at the 540-boat British Masters Championships, they landed four gold and three silvers to take the Victor Ludorum prize and a £500 cheque.

Bobbing in the teams wake on one of the greatest days in its 81-year history were the likes of 1984 Olympic champion Richard Budgett and 1988 Olympic finalist Pete Beaumont.
