Sally Powell, Lisa Brady, Wendy Nicholson and Rowena Pollock are all in training for the Belfast marathon on May 5th. As part of their training they completed the Forest of Dean half marathon on Sunday, March 16th. The weather conditions were wet and windy and the track was muddy and slippery in places. The first 10 mile stretch was very hilly. They all finished in a very respectable time but were five minutes behind their goal times. The hilly route and slippy track slowed them down a bit. Sally told The Ross Gazette: "We didn't quite know what we were letting ourselves in for when we agreed to run a full marathon in Lisa's home city of Belfast. We are all busy working mums and the training has been extremely time consuming running for up to three and a half hours on our long runs. We are running for two charities which have personal connections for us. Lisa and Rowena are running for Megan Baker House and Wendy and I are running for the Tourette Syndrome Association. We would be extremely grateful to anyone who would like to support either of our charities."
