Ross Cricket Club 1sts finished their Worcester League fixtures on a high note with an impressive victory on Saturday, August 30th.

At home and having won the toss, Ross elected to bat on a warm sunny afternoon - one of very few this season! Opener Andrew Bevan set about the bowling attack with a whirlwind of big shots and rocketed to a massive 197, including 24 fours and 10 sixes, in just 105 balls.

This is the highest individual score by a Ross 1st XI batsman in a league match. He was finally out lbw to Louis Watkins in the 36th over. Jack Evans was second top scorer with 49 not out, easing Ross to a huge total of 319 for 6 in 50 overs.

Faced with a daunting total to chase, the Canon Frome batsmen nonetheless began brightly and were looking to score at the required run rate until the twin spin attack of Chris Gage and Gabriel Warwick were introduced.

Canon Frome Skipper Andy Rogers top scored with 47 before being caught by David Warwick to be one of Gabriel Warwick's 5 victims for just 29 runs. Chris Gage finished with figures of (13-1-4-63).  In a largely lacklustre season, this was a much needed and encouraging result which finally reflected the massive potential in the squad, something which augurs well for next season
