William Dallow, former resident of Ross, who attended Ross Secondary School more than 30 years ago, has invented the first Child's Safety Hand Rail which is being launched through his Company Child Safety Zone Limited, of Hereford. More than 40,000 children a year visit the Accident and Emergency dept in the UK and 60% of those injuries are from injuries to fingers sustained through the hinges of a door. William's personal experience of witnessing an injury of this kind on more than one occasion was his motivation for his simple yet extremely effective invention. "There is nothing quite as chilling as a child's scream when they have their fingers trapped in a door. Having witnessed on more than one occasion the effects of children's fingers falling prey to the jaws of the hinges on a door, I felt compelled to design something that could prevent the countless accidents that occur both in and outside of the home." The injuries that can be sustained by children through coming in and out of front, back and interior doors can be extremely serious. In some cases the injuries caused to little fingers can lead to amputation. The Child's Safety Hand Rail has been trialled by a number of families in Herefordshire over the last few months with 100% success rate. Mrs Stonewater from Belmont Hereford, had a Child's Safety Hand Rail fitted to her front door 2 months ago : "I feel reassured that my two year old has something to steady himself on when going in and out of the house. He has quickly learned to hold onto the rail and on some occasions he has really needed it to prevent a fall. I will definitely be taking it with us when we move." William launched the only Child Safety Hand Rail on the market through his company Child Safety Zone Ltd, last week, and he is passionate about how this invention can prevent unnecessary visits to A & E and hopes that the statistics will show a reduction in the amount of injuries incurred by the jaws of a door hinge. The Childs Safety Handrail is available from Child Safety Zone Ltd and orders can be made directly through http://www.childsafetyzone.co.uk">www.childsafetyzone.co.uk or you can log onto EBay where they are also being sold while stocks last.
