Ross match fisherman Richard Hoskins has scooped the top prize and realised a life long ambition by winning one of the most prestigious fishing festivals in the angling calendar the 3 day Waterways Ireland Classic Fishing Festival in Northern Ireland –with competitors from all over Europe including world champions. Richard, (pictured left) who fishes for Team Diawa Gordon League in Gloucestershire has fished the festival every year since 1992. The first day saw Richard take the lead netting bream and hybrids to weigh in at a staggering 63kg 100gms on a new section Tamlaght on the River Erne. He held this leading position and finished day three with a total catch of 71kg 700gms to take the top prize of a cool £4,000 and a crystal trophy. To top off an excellent weeks fishing, Richard along with travelling partner Craig Brown, also from Ross- on-Wye, and Tony Doyle and Pete Golding, both of Hereford won the teams of four competition with an aggregate weight of 99kg 840gms.
