A crew from the Severn Area Rescue Association Beachley lifeboat and search and rescue station have successfully rescued a pensioner who had been missing in the Wye Valley for several hours.

The incident started in mid afternoon when the pensioner became separated from friends while walking in the Wye Valley near Penallt and Redbrook close to the River Wye.

The SARA team were tasked by the police at 7pm that evening to commence a search of the River Wye and a land search of the area. As Thursday is one of the SARA training evenings, the SARA team were assembled and en-route within minutes.
