THE arrival of the first Syrian household to Monmouthshire is imminent.
Monmouthshire County Council (MCC) will shortly be welcoming the first Syrian household to the county under the council’s commitment to support the UK Government resettlement programme.
The council’s assistance is being co-ordinated through a multi-agency working group made up of internal services and external partners. The group will be liaising directly with the Home Office to prepare for the arrival and integration of households. A key component of the council’s planning is to identify and provide suitable housing.
Councillor Phil Hobson, Cabinet member for community development, said: “The council through the housing and community team is looking to identify accommodation of any size or type and would welcome the opportunity of speaking with any private landlords or property owners who may be interested in working with the council.”
