Two Year 8 students at Monmouth Comprehensive School broke longstanding records during the Y8 Interform Games this month.

Charlie Rodgers smashed the javelin record which has stood since 1996.

Fifteen years on, Charlie beat the record held by L Hunter by almost four metres achieving a distance of 35.62 (the original record was 31.86).

Sam Pritchard beat C Radnor's discus record that had stood for 34 years.

Back in 1977, a distance of 26.10 took the record for discus but Sam beat this by 29cm, becoming the school record holder for Year 8 with a distance of 26.39.
