SIR,
It appeared most unprofessional for the Beacon to publish a letter anonymously which called on our talented Conservative Assembly Member Nick Ramsay, to 'stand down' on the grounds that Monmouthshire had voted 'No' and he supported 'Yes' in the recent referendum to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Welsh Assemby.
The letter itself overlooked the fact that the 'No' majority in Monmouthshire was only 320 votes. The 'Yes' and the 'No' votes were very close indeed.
Interestingly, in the historic area of the pre-1974 big county of Monmouthshire/ Gwent the 'Yes' vote was overall 60per cent to the No at 40per cent.
In any event, our excellent Assembly Member should continue his good work for the people of Monmouthshire. The outcomes of referendums have nothing to do with it.
