Monmouth Cricket Club's 1st and 2nd XI both saw their matches abandoned due to rain as the curtain came down on another season in the Worcestershire County League Division Two.
With the 2nd XI called off before a ball had been bowled, Monmouth 1st XI travelled to Coombs Wood hoping to finish the campaign on a high.
After being asked to field first, Monmouth made early inroads with the new ball and the hosts were reduced to 95 for five thanks to the bowling of top wicket-taker Jon Roberts (two for 41) and Jordan Charles (three for 62).
A fine partnership between the early aggressor Jonathon Stanaway (93) and Matthew Colwell (75) steadied the ship and gave Coombs Wood a good platform to launch a late attack.
Despite the efforts of Aled Jones (two for 41), Jon Jones (one) and Josh Grey (one), Monmouth found themselves chasing a very respectable 253 for victory.
Skipper Paul Swingwood (two) and Kiwi overseas star Fraser Kilgour (one) held good catches, with Kilgour equalling the divisional record by holding his 18th catch of the season.
The New Zealander has set a high standard throughout, and deservedly ended his time with the club by bringing up an excellent milestone.
