THELondis store at Raglan was raided in the early hours of Wednesday morning and around £10,000 in cash was stolen from a new ATM machine.
Four or five men in black, wearing balaclavas, backed a stolen 4x4 through the front of the shop at 1.42 am and made off.
Eye witnesses said the front of the shop was missing and the ATM was in the middle of the road within two minutes.
The vehicle, which had earlier been stolen from Abergavenny, made off in the direction of the Raglan roundabout. The Gwent police helicopter was called in to search.
