The 'Raise the Roof'

Campaign for St Cadoc's Church Raglan has continued with a quiz at the Beaufort Hotel; just one of a number of events to raise around £400,000 to repair the roof on the 15th century church and make some internal improvements.

Slate tiles have been dropping from the roof into the churchyard, making it hazardous for any planned events.

It is hoped much-needed repointing will take place while scaffolding is up, and that the funds raised will also pay for a new kitchenette, disabled toilet and disabled access to the church itself.

The campaign group, led by Reverend Joan Wakeling, is applying for grants from organisations including Cadw as well as organising fundraising events.

So far events that have taken place include the curry/ quiz night on the 29th December organised by Raglan Conservation Group and held at the Beaufort Hotel Raglan; £250 was raised for the fund. A cheque was presented by Jana Lewis from The Beaufort to Revd Joan Wakeling, pictured.

Since the campaign began in late October, local fundraising has bought in £2,359.

The next events are a lunch at the church on the 11th

February, tickets can be purchased from Sue Russell on 01291 690380 and a pizza/ quiz night on Thursday 6th March hosted at the Ship Inn, Raglan by Nick Ramsay AM, tickets are £7.50 per person and are available from the Ship on 01291 691825.
