Councillor Trevor Phillips has identified several areas in need of improvement in Raglan as noted by the judges in this year's blooms competition.

Seats in High Street need stripping and repainting; at The Cross two benches needed removing and replacing with seats, and slabs at The Cross had been broken and needed replacing, Cllr Phillips told Raglan Community Council at the council's recent meeting.

Monmouthshire County Council had put new litter bins in the village but there were at least two or three more needed, which the community council would need to supply, he said.

It was agreed that these should be referred to the January meeting for funding. A broken seat off Usk Rd would also be removed as it was potentially dangerous.

There was a discussion about other litter bins in rural parts of the community, but it was agreed that rather than installing bins in areas where they would probably not get emptied, the council should investigate the possibility of signs saying "Take your litter home".
