The Raglan Gardeners Association has held its last ever event.
The group, which was formed in 1954 in association with Usk Agricultural College, met one final time for a meal at Raglan Parc Golf Club last Tuesday (13th December).
Until 1994, the group went under the name of Raglan Village Produce Association and organised lectures and trips to events such as the Chelsea Flower Show and Blenheim Palace for villagers.
Membership rose in that time from 12 founder members to around 50.
In 1994 the group changed its name and started to operate independently of the college.
Since then, it has organised visits to most of the local houses that take part in the National Gardens Scheme, but it has been difficult for the association to attract younger members.
Until 18 months ago meetings were still attended by upwards of 30 members but with numbers on the slide, they decided to go out with a bang rather than fade away.
The meal was attended by founder member Margaret Williams, who was secretary for the group from 1954 to 2002, and five other nonagenarians.
