SIR,

On Saturday, March 28th after a very enjoyable evening at Wedges, celebrating a friend's Golden Wedding, my mother had an unfortunate mishap, which resulted in her falling and suffering a severe blow to the back of her head.

Two young men offered help but her friends decided to bring her home. After seeing her injury, I decided to phone NHS Direct. Within 20 minutes of making the call a medic was at the door and before he had finished doing checks, the ambulance had arrived.

In less than two hours of making the phone call to NHS Direct my mother was in Accident and Emergency waiting to go on to a ward.

Thank you everyone for your quick response and your help.
