Whilst applauding the Climate Change campaigners in raising public awareness of our greatest challenge, I would ask them three questions:-

Why cannot they organise such demonstrations in their free time rather than take time off school?

If they wish to do something practical, why not adopt the Boy Scout “Bob-a Job” principle - for an agreed period, earn money by doing jobs for family, friends, neighbours; pool their income and donate it to a recognised charity working in those areas already affected by climate change?

We are told that, in terms of energy consumption, the carbon footprint of the world’s IT industry is equivalent to that of the airline industry, without the emissions. If that is so, how many of the campaigners are willing to give up their iPhones, iPads, downloading music, streaming films, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc for, say, 24 hours once a week and via social media, of course, urge their friends and colleagues around the globe to do likewise?

We can all do our bit.
