Steve Williams, managing director of the Charles Church Parc Glyndwr development off Rockfield Road, says in the Beacon of 30th May that the fears of overland flooding from his new estate are "irresponsible, inaccurate and quite simply incorrect".

I'm sure that many residents of Monmouth would like to know if Mr Williams was living in Monmouth in January 2008 when a flood came down the Rockfield Road – from the new estates.

Knee-deep water swept across Rolls Avenue, through the small park into homes in Brook Estate and Hendre Close – all areas never before flooded in more than 70 years.

Consequently, should these estates now be classed as flood areas? When will others like Mr Williams and Monmouthshire County Council put people before profit?
