A DECISION on the future of the Halfway House Inn at Talycoed has been put off by Monmouthshire County Council planners after they were told that there may be a prospective buyer.
Planning Committee Chairman Cllr Mr Peter Clarke said he had received a phone call telling him about a prospective buyer who had only just become involved and needed time to assess the situation.
The owner of the pub, Mr Leonard Stagg, has applied to the County Council for permission to change the use from public house to a dwelling house.
The local community council are backing his application, but a number of local people are opposed and have complained about the way the community council have handled the application.
At the planning meeting on Monday there was a lot of late correspondence about the proposal.
Members decided to defer a decision for a month, until October 31st, to see if a potential buyer came forward.
