MONMOUTHSHIRE Meadows Group (MMG) recently held a very successful open day in some of the most beautiful wildflower meadows in the county.
The weather was perfect and visitors came from as far afield as Oxford and Tewkesbury to see the fields at their best with a glorious display of orchids and other wildflowers. Several visitors were so enthusiastic that they immediately joined up as new MMG members. The day, which attracted more than 80 people, raised over £250 towards MMGs fund to purchase 12 acres of wildflower meadows at Kingcoed near Raglan.
Monmouthshire Meadows Group is extremely grateful to the meadow owners in the Narth, Penallt, Trellech and Mitchell Troy for allowing members of the public to walk in their fields to admire these increasingly rare native plants, such as the Greater Butterfly Orchid.
