SIR,

On 10th February the phone line in our area went down and BT told us it would be functioning within three working days.

On 15th February the cause of the fault was discovered; a local farmer had deep ploughed his field and cut through the cable.

Due to the process of gathering necessary permissions and the availability of Open Reach, we were given the date of 4th March for the work to begin (being a Friday this meant yet another weekend without service).

The work involved laying of new ducting before the cable could be replaced and then tested.

We were looking at a month without telephone and internet.

We live in a rural area and have a very poor mobile phone signal, only available outside.

In desparation we contacted David Davies MP and he speedily escalated the urgency of this repair and we were reconnected on Tuesday 1st March, a week earlier than had been projected.

It is sad that we had to contact David Davies to speed up this essential repair, but are very grateful for his valuable help and wish to convey our thanks to him.
