A PREHISTORIC find has been made in a garden on Hereford Road.

Bill Hall was digging his garden and came across what archaeologist Steve Clarke has described as ’a good find’. Bill uncovered a spinning whirl that dates back to the Iron Age and was used on the end of a stick to make wool come out as a thread. Made out of limestone, it is an early example of a spinning wheel used by iron age families. There have been other finds of such a type, some whirls are made of bone, some of metal. Although it has been eroded, it still is about the size it would have been thousands of years ago.
