BANNERS like the one above are appearing all over Monmouthshire, including outside the front of the Monmouthshire Beacon office after we agreed the idea from Shane Wallace of Monmouth.

The show of support for NHS key workers is phenemonal as is that for the hundreds of staff still doing their bit for the community including shop assistants, bus drivers, council staff and those at pharmacies around the county.

And an appeal for help is being put out by a lady whose husband is a bus driver busy taking hospital staff to work and residents to local shops.

However with the Covid-19 restrictions it means the drivers covering Monmouth are left with nowhere to go to pick up a hot drink.

Heather Mackerness says her husband and his fellow drivers work shifts without access to hot drinks as the local cafes, restaurants and coffee shops have all closed.

She said: ‘‘He could take a flask but that will not last all day and while they could drink water I feel it is only fair they should have access to a warm drink.

‘‘I know cafes at supermarkets are closed but surely someone could come out with a cup of tea and leave it somewhere safe so he and other drivers could pick it up while social distancing.

‘‘They are wearing unforms so could be easily identified.’’

Is there anyone out there who could offer a solution to this dilemma?
