SIR,

In response to Mr Whitehouse's letter last week, I agree we should praise the paramedics who do a terrific job.

However, the 'services' are made up of more than the paramedics.

I would never condemn paramedics or any other member of the NHS.

However, the "caring and helpful" paramedics need the tools and infrastructure to do their jobs in bad as well as good conditions.

Winter is coming and last year a considerable number of people waited a dramatic period of time because the facilities were inadequate, and the demands too great.

A letter to the Beacon (July 13th 2011) titled "Ambulance cover is 'totally unacceptable'" from a member of staff at Monmouth Ambulance Station, clearly explained the unacceptable demands placed on the rapid response vehicle.

Additionally, I think the paramedics require an ambulance station which is maintained.

It should not be left to deteriorate the way it has.

I think we all deserve better than that.
