Polling cards for this Thursday's by-election in the Wyesham Ward of Monmouth have still not arrived through the letterbox, despite being posted second class on June 30th.

Independent candidate for the ward, Jem Jenkins-Jones, contacted the Beacon to say that although those registered as postal voters have received theirs, the poll cards informing voters of their polling number and where to vote have not yet turned up.

Despite Jem having chased up the matter by phone to MCC, they had still not arrived this morning, with only two days left to go.

“ I've been in touch with the Returning Officer and am waiting for an update on the situation ,” she said.

We contacted MCC who said: “Poll cards were sent out on the 30th June but none of the voters have received them. We will try and find out what has happened but they were dispatched as usual and it only came to light over the weekend that they hadn’t arrived.”

Other candidates in the by-election this Thursday are Xavier Turner (Local Conservatives) and Robert Kavanagh (Reform)
