Plans to replace police stations in Raglan and Tintern with a mobile police van will go for public consultation later this year.

The proposals put forward by Gwent Police Authority would also see officers in Usk sharing accommodation with the town council at Sessions House.

Members of the police authority's audit and resources committee last week gave the go-ahead for a period of public consultation between August and October.

The authority has identified the move as a way to improve its service and visibility in rural areas while making significant financial savings.
