A series of temporary traffic restrictions affecting roads in Monmouth, Chepstow and several rural communities across Monmouthshire have been announced by Monmouthshire County Council to allow essential utility and infrastructure works to be carried out safely.
Among the measures is the suspension of parking bays on B4293 Cinderhill Street, Monmouth, for works being undertaken by Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water.
The restrictions come into force on Sunday, November 1, 2026, and are expected to operate between 8am and 6pm on the same day.
The suspension affects shared time-limited and resident permit parking bays on Cinderhill Street, from 21 St Thomas Square to 17 Cinderhill Street, covering a distance of approximately 105 metres.
In Chepstow, a temporary road closure will be introduced on B4293 Moor Street to facilitate National Grid works.
The closure, which comes into force on Saturday, October 31, 2026, will remain in place until Sunday, November 1, 2026, affecting the section between Mounton Road and Thomas Street. A signed diversion route will direct motorists via the A48, A466 and B4293 Welsh Street.

Blue Door Road in Dingestow will be closed on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, between 10am and 5pm, affecting a 165-metre section around 185 metres south of its junction with Bryngwyn Road. Diversions will be routed via Bryngwyn Road, the R42 road towards Mitchel Troy and Mitchel Troy Road.
On the same day, a section of the R76 Road from Mitchel Troy Road to Penrhos Road in Cwmcarvan will be closed between 8am and 5pm, with traffic diverted via Perth-Hir Road and Cwmcarvan Hill Side Road.
The following day, Thursday, October 29, 2026, will see the closure of a section of R42 Waste Road, Dingestow, between 8am and 5pm. Drivers will be diverted via Bryngwyn Road, Raglan Road and neighbouring rural routes.
A further closure affects Darren Road, Llandegveth, on Friday, October 30, 2026, operating between 8am and 5pm. The diversion route will direct traffic along Tre-Herbert Road, the A4042, Newport Road, Jerusalem Lane and several local roads around Llandegfedd Reservoir.
Meanwhile, St Bride's Road in St Brides Netherwent is scheduled to be closed from Monday, November 2, 2026, to Friday, November 6, 2026, operating daily between 9am and 5pm, to allow MJ Quinn Civils works to take place. A diversion will be signed via the A48 and B4245.
The council said the restrictions were necessary to ensure the works could be completed safely. Reasonable access for properties fronting the affected roads will be maintained wherever possible.
