Monmouthshire County Council has announced plans to install a new puffin crossing on the A48 at Pwllmeyric, aiming to improve pedestrian safety along the busy route.

The proposal, made under Section 23 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, sets out the crossing’s intended position around 10 metres south‑west of the junction with C61.3.

A detailed plan of the location is available online via the council’s public consultation page, where residents can also access an online form to submit their views. Gwent Police have been formally consulted, as required by legislation.

The council is inviting comments from the public either through the online form or by writing to the Traffic Section at County Hall in Usk.

All feedback must be received by 5pm on 2 September 2026. Officials say every response will be considered before a final decision is made, and submissions may be published as part of the consultation process.
