Motorists across Monmouthshire are advised to prepare for a series of temporary traffic measures this December as Monmouthshire County Council implements several Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTROs). These restrictions are necessary to allow essential maintenance and improvement works to be carried out safely, ensuring the continued upkeep of local infrastructure.

The planned works will affect multiple routes across the county, with closures, speed limit reductions, and diversion routes in place. Residents and road users are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time for journeys.

On December 10, Staunton Road in Staunton will be subject to temporary traffic signals between 9am and 6pm while MJ Quinn undertakes works. To enhance safety, the speed limit will be reduced from 60mph to 40mph for approximately 1.1km east of its junction with Wyesham Road.

From December 11-13, Welsh Water will carry out essential works requiring the closure of a section of The Craig Road, Penallt. As this is a no-through road, no diversion route will be provided, but access will be maintained with short delays.

On December 15, Glynwood Lane in Tintern will close between 9:30am and 3.30pm for tree cutting operations. A signed diversion will guide traffic via Forge Road, A466, Devauden Road, and Penterry Lane.

Between December 4-9, BT duct-laying works will necessitate the closure of St Brides Road St Brides Netherwent. Diversions will be in place via the A48 and Carrow Road.

From December 8-10, Welsh Water works will close Cae-Bach Road, Llandenny between 8am and 5pm. Diversion routes will include Ton Cottages Road, Usk Road, and Llandenny Road.

On December 4, Barecroft Common will close from 8:30am to 3pm for vegetation removal. Diversions will run via Redwick Road, Newport Road, and the A4810 Magor Interchange.

The council stresses that reasonable access will be maintained for residents during all closures. These temporary measures are essential to ensure the safety of workers and the public while critical works are completed. Motorists are urged to follow signed diversion routes and check for updates before travelling.
