SIR,
I note on the internet that Monmouthshire Local
Health
Board have extended the above consultation time on
proposed closure to 28th September, 2008.
I hope that this means good news. For a few months
we
have had no out of hours opening on weekends, or
Bank
Holidays, having to travel to Abergavenny for
emergency
prescriptions.
The extended trial is not necessary according to
many
local interested parties. Local people need to give
clear
examples as to why we need to keep our emergency
facilities local.
In the first consultancy phase many people did
express
their deep concerns. Thankfully, Boots the Chemist
have
temporarily, come to our aid.I believe most of our
community will support those who fight to retain
and
enhance local facilities
When are those who have influence, going to truly
represent local interests.? We need to keep our eye
on the
ball, otherwise it could be a case of first you see it
now
you don't.!
Please let David Kenny, at Community Health
Council,
Mamhilad and your councillors, who are accountable
to
you, know your feeling on this important issue.
Sylvia Gilbert
