On Tuesday 7th October, an appeal against Monmouth County Council's rejection of an application for a 50kW wind turbine at the 'Milking Folds', Pen-y-clawdd was held as an informal hearing at County Hall, Usk.
The original application was rejected in December 2013 and an appeal was submitted by the applicant in April 2014.
The Inspector, Mr. E. Jones, took into account the views of the appellant and the council with interested third parties represented by the 'Protect Pen-y-Clawdd' group.
The hearing lasted all day with a site visit the following day, which took in various views towards the proposed turbine site.
A spokesman for Protect Pen-y-Clawdd campaign who opposed the application said 'The inspector was extremely thorough and fair, with all parties given the opportunity to make their case.' A decision will be made before 13th November.
Jeremy Bayliss, who applied for the wind turbine on his land said: "The Bayliss family would like to thank all the local people who have supported us through this single turbine farm diversification application and hope that it comes to a positive conclusion.
"It can then produce clean renewable electricity for the locality and help in a small way to lower our reliance on fossil fuels and also dramatically reduce the farm's carbon footprint.
"This is one of several diversification options being considered for the site which will help to preserve the farm's future for generations."
