A TYRE specialist in Monmouth hosted a special event last Thursday (23rd July) to raise funds for the Children’s Air Ambulance, a national helicopter service that transports critically ill children across the UK.

The event at Paul Jarrold Tyres on Wonastow Road Industrial Estate West was part of the nationwide ‘100 years of adventure’ roadshow organised by tyre manufacturer, General Tire, which is celebrating its centenary in 2015.

Customers and colleagues welcomed a 5.5-metre long inflatable Children’s Air Ambulance helicopter, as well as a fully branded Land Rover Discovery.

Raffle tickets were sold on the day offering people the chance of winning either an Apple Watch, a Land Rover driving experience, or a family day out.

Mike Jarrold from Paul Jarrold Tyres, said: “The whole team is proud to be one of the UK garages chosen for this national roadshow as it demonstrates that we offer a quality service to our customer, which has been recognised by our suppliers.”

David Smith, managing director at Continental Tyre Group Ltd, which owns General Tire, said: “We were really excited about visiting Paul Jarrold Tyres to raise money for the Children’s Air Ambulance. This roadshow will also be a great opportunity to showcase to both motorists and tyre dealers alike, General Tire’s long history and tradition of making reliable high-performance tyres, and to draw attention to our current range of products.”

Tracy Grunwell, national partnership manager for the Children’s Air Ambulance, said: “Since the Children’s Air Ambulance was launched in 2013, we have completed over 130 vital missions, including over 85 baby transfers, but we do not receive any government funding, so we’re really grateful to generosity of Paul Jarrold Tyres, General Tire and Micheldever for supporting the cause.”
